I've struggled for a while to find a really good quality pair of headphones that are suitable for exercising. It always seems to be a trade-off between sound quality and practicality. I've owned Bose products in the past and have always been impressed, so after reading a few reviews that suggested the IE2s would hit the spot I bought a new pair from a private seller on ebay. I'm pleased to report that the reviews were 100% right. If you want a pair of headphones that are practical for exercising (mainly running for me) and offer great sound quality then I would really recommend these. First of all the practicality: They're tremendously comfortable (hardly know you're wearing them after a couple of wears), and have little tags that fit snugle inside the ear so that they don't move around or fall out. I also like the balance between sound from your music player and ambient noise from the outside. These aren't noise cancelling headphones so you don't feel cut-off from your surroundings. However, you don't get much in the way of outside noise to interfere with your listening. Finally on practicality you don't get the feedback from your feet striking the ground that you do with many in-ear phones. Now the sound quality. I like to think I take this reasonably seriously. I listen to a variety of music, although not so much classical when I'm running. My favourite headphones when not exercising are Westone 2s - so decent quality. To be fair - when seated the Westone's give a better sound than the Bose IE2. The sound is more detailed and the bass more controlled. That said - as soon as you start jogging the feedback from the feet kicks in, and the noise cancellation cuts you off from the outside world (and I guess could be dangerous). The Bose are a really nice listen - the sound is a little on the warm side and the bass booms a little - but not over the top. They are detailed enough though and provide a really engaging listen.Read full review
I've got Bose QC 15 and IE2 headphones. Normally I use Bose Quiet Confort 15 for travel purpose because of its 'noise reduction' function which cut the engine's noise completly and you'll listen like you're in the middle of quiet environment such as country park. I use Bose IE2 headphone when I go to gym everyday because its ear pice is designed to stick into ears and also it sounds better than other brands. For example I binnned my old JVC headphone and I pod touch's (Apple) headphone because of sound quality.
Lightweight and compact, these 'in ear canal' headphones fulfilled all my expectations. The sound quality is very good and the fact that the unit fits snugly inside the ear canal, prevents a lot of outside noise pollution. I always had problems with the ear bud type of headphones never quite fitting properly and working loose, eventually dropping out of my ear, but since using these, it's never happened. The frequency range is excellent; both down in the lower ranges and up in the trebles. The whole thing came in a soft flat leather? case, which I find fits snugly in my jeans, allowing me to carry them anywhere without the usual tangle of wires catching my keys etc that are normally lurking in my pockets. The build quality is very good and they appear to be quite strong. (I accidentally sat on them, doing no damage whatsoever) All in all, a very good product. Well worth the money. I did find two little black sticky lables on the earphone heads which I pulled off, under both of them was the words "SONY EX088" Not being a Techie, I have no idea what this implies.Read full review
Fantastic sound and what you'd expect from Bose. They advertise that if you love music, sooner or later you'll be buying Bose and for good reason. The bass is great from such a small object, I've had many other in ear headphones and some with similar quality, but they have not lasted - these are going strong with a stable long cable. They come with 3 different size ear pieces, that stay in place. But, I use them daily and have a few times found one of the pieces has fallen off, which makes me a tad concerned that one day they may well get lost. I may glue them in place to solve this. I'd recommend them highly.
When I first saw those earphones, I just fell in love with them. The are the final touch to my usual goth/rock outfits. The sound is very good and the earphones mute enough of the surrounding noise that one does not need to pump up the volume to the max (except for some crazy headbanging/air guitar combo, of course). The only down point is that they are rather larger and do not quite fit in my ears. Absolutely can not use them at the gym as they keep falling out if I move around a bit too mush, as one tend to do when working out. To summarize, I would say they are great for looks but not that practical.
