I did not come to Jamie Cullum until 2007/8 although I heard him on Parkinson many times. Having arrived I am finding each of his albums an improvement over the previous offer so 'Pointless Nostalgic' is not my favourite. It is, nevertheless, a brillient album and should form part of any collection of Cullum's work.
I really like this cd, it is a good example of his earlyer music that had a more jazz feel too it! I love the use of the double bass and drums throughout the tracks, it has the older jazz feel to it. I would recomend this album to anyone, its a great all round cd.
This is a great album with a brilliant selection of tracks and taste in jazz music, i especially liked the track 'high and dry' which consisted of some excellent lyrics. Jamie's best album i think is the album catching tales which has captured the whole essence of Jamie Cullum's wonderful ability.
To say he recorded this on £100 before he was famous just shows how inredibly talented Jamie is as its a great album. His voice just blows me away. Well worth a listen!
I bought it because I am a fan of Jamies' songs, particularily the way he writes about his life. He is also a very good interpreter of the standards. This is as good as "Catching Tales".
