    Replacement garden tool handle.

First- it will always be better to buy a new garden tool if you can, you will find a range of prices and brands to meet your requirements, But saying that if you have time tools and ability to replace the handle and this would mean cutting it to copy the original length and taper on the shaft it will take at least 1 hour per tool it can be done with satisfaction I have just done 2 of these the handle is definitely some type of hardwood with the grip being a little softer, its better than expected for the price after seeing some reviews.

    ok for what paid

Although good value for money, Sharp unfinished edges, poor fit handle to shaft. Metal handle seems flimsy, not yet used. But not planned for heavy work. Used epoxy to fill gaps around handle end caps sharp crimped edge. then filed smooth. same on handle socket to shaft. Gap sharp edge filled n filed. Handle seems stout enough to do job intended for. Poor finish on metal work lets down.

  • Not the best quality

The price is good but the quality not good I guess you get what you pay for things. The shaft is beech, not that durable and would preferably been ash which is traditional for tools. Shaft will ideally need sealing with lacquer. The metal crimping which holds the handle in place is very poor and has sharp edges. For most spades or forks the length will need to be reduced and a lot of work needed to create the taper to fit into the fork/spade metal housing.

  • Good basic concept but inadequate quality

I was disappointed with this purchase as it looked a good basic concept for a handle to shaft connection, but quite frankly the connection is a loose one between the metal and the wood. I have not returned it because it is too much fuss and I will add a couple of metal hose clamps to wrap around the metal handle and make the area a more solid and a better mating surface between the metal and the wood. I am not totally unhappy, but this product could have been better manufactured with a bit of process control in the manufacturing. It does not give me a good feeling for how long it will last, so I will see after a prolonged period of use.

  • Fix your old spade or garden fork cheaper than buying new

It’s really annoying when your spade handles snap then you have to buy a new one but with a little bit of easy work you can replace the handle for a beer a Tena the most difficult part of the replacement is to get the old shaft out I found the easiest way is to burn the wood out on a bonfire then drill the old fixings out I always put a wood preservation such as creosote on the shaft before assembly so a little work you have your tools repaired at a fraction of the cost of buying new AYE
