The stand itself is heavy enough and stable but the plastic work needs improvement as the hard surfaces, especially on the downtube scratch the bike. Therre is insufficient clearance between the pivot point and chainrings so that they touch unless the bike is carefully positioned on the BB plastic. The Downtube plastic has no cut outs for shifter cables so interferes with setting up of the gears. The hook used to secure the bike to the stand is only threaded for part of its length so that unless your bike stands high of the support arm it is impossible to secure it to the stand safely. Could not straighten fron wheel between tyre stays as illustrated... Overall I am left wondering why the original idea of this wonderfully simple stand was not better executed... consigned to back of the shed may be of use some day for something... just not for a bike stand.Read full review

I was very pleased with the well made equipment. There were a couple of things which could make it even better namely: A pin to hold the tool tray in position (to stop it jumping out and spilling the tools if you nudge it). The bracket that contacts the cycle at the bottom (by pedals) could do with one side being adjustable as it didn't quite fit my cycle. Apart from these small points very good!

This wasn't the first bike work stand we purchased, we bought two of the tripod ones for more money than this one. The first tripod type was so flimsey and unsable that our bikes fell off or over when we tried to use it so we gave up. The second was much stronger but again it was a tripod, not the best thing to put a heavy object on top of, we managed to get our bikes into it at some struggle but again, tripods are not the best thing to have a top heavy bike on top of really so after it too kept falling over or toppling at the slightest nudge we gave up on that one as well. Then we met someone on one of our rides who was working on his bike in the car park with one of these, when he told us the price we couldn't believe it!! The other useless ones were much more expensive and this one had wide legs in a cross member config, was very stable on even ground, which truthfully is like outside your home etc and where we do most maintainance etc. THIS BIKE WORK STAND IS WELL WORTH THE MONEY, DOES THE JOB WELL AND IS VERY STABLE UNLESS YOU ARE REALLY RELLY CLUMBSY. WE HIGHLY RECOMEND IT EVEN IF IT WAS A WEEK COMING FROM GERMANY!!! 5 STAR!!!!Read full review
