I had been looking for an Gibson ES-339 but when its upgraded cousin, the ES-359, came available I jumped on it. It exceeded my expectations. Fit and finish on this guitar are flawless. The flame maple top is finished so well it looks an inch deep, almost 3-D, and the gold hardware is a striking contrast. I chose this guitar because I wanted the tone of a semi-hollow 335-like guitar without the size and weight of a 335. The 359 is cut down to about the size of a Les Paul but lighter in comparison. The neck is Lucille-like, tapered but thicker at the 12th fret than the 339 30/60 neck. The ebony fretboard is extremely articulate and the Classic '57 humbuckers are unmatched for tone. The Memphis tone circuit maintains the highs at lower volumes. When I took it to my luthier for a set up he said it was the best example of Gibson craftsmanship he has seen in 5 years. It's a joy to play and absolutely stunning in appearance. It's a winner in every category.Read full review
