This little ash vac does the job. It's easy to use, powerful and even has a great name, 'Inglenook' but in use it sounds like a jumbo jet taking off! As it only needs to be used for a few minutes to clean out each grate, it's worth the unrefined engine noise. All in all, I would still reccomend it as a good buy.

the main thing about this item is that the filter can get blocked with the fine wood ash and needs cleaning whenever it is used to clean a firegrate

the only slight problem with this vac is that the hose sometimes detaches itself--it needs a stronger connection. it is much better than using a brush as you don`t get any dust---just read the instructions and don`t try vaccing up bits of clinker or unburnt coal, easy to empty and clean--light weight to use

I wanted a vacuum for my woodworking workshop and baulked at the prices of the so-called professional products. Thinking laterally, I chanced on this machine and can saw that I am very pleased with it. If it has a fault, it is that it pays not to run it too long at one session as it tends to get a little warm, but this is a minor quibble as it runs long enough for my use. When the suction reduces it is a simple matter to lift the top off and detach the filter and brush it clean again. The filter appears to be very robustly made so should last a good time. Very pleased with the product, especially at such a value price.

This does exactly as it says on the tin. Easy to use and empty, no dust when in use because of the filter. Great product.
