Very nice design and one of the simplest fans I have fitted.Best part is selectable speed on the low setting is very quiet and more than powerfull enough to remove shower steam ventilation.

bought this to replace 20yr old fan in utility room. wanted a silent fan as current fan is directly below bedroom and can be heard. This has 2 speed settings and neither is silent. hi speed is no quieter than the Greenwood unit it is replacing. lo speed is slightly quieter but not silent. If you want silent a Vent Axia unit is £10 more expensive but is whisper quiet. I’ll fit this elsewhere and go back to Vent Axia.

The instruction leaflet is mainly made up of IKEA-like diagrams and a limited amount of text. It was not easy to follow and it was necessary to continuously go back to the diagrams to work out what was meant. I did not know there was a circular baffle option which would have suited my installation much better because it was not clear that I had to carefully align the unit to the ceiling contours before drilling the holes. See picture to see how it is not aligned. I therefore have a fixture that is not parallel to the ceiling/wall lines and can't go back to drill another set of 3 holes. A circular baffle would not show an alignment problem. It was not easy to follow the instructions to disassemble the unit for installation. On installation I discovered I could not fit the condensation trap because it interfered with the ducting that had to bend to avoid the joist in the roof void. On low fan speed setting, it is quiet and this is the preferred setting for a small bathroom.Read full review

I was trying to install this product. It was so frustrating I just park it for now .The instructions are a joke.I cannot work out how the 30 sec/ minute works? The product its self is of poor quality. The connection section is not fixed so moves around when connecting wires and any positioning. When I believed I had it wired I could not get it to power up .I have not given up yet but to be honest I will probably return it .Ken

This extractor fan certainly does exactly as it says on the box and is the ultimate in quiet "ghost" technology at a reasonable price that I have experienced. Bought to replace a noisy basic value in-line fan that we had installed in our toilet about 5 years ago. We initially installed an in-line fan to help eliminate any additional decibels that would have been caused by reverberations if installed directly into our wood clad ceiling. It helped but the fan was still noisy and overtime, despite yearly maintenance it started to wear out. So time for a new fan. We purchased the above Xpelair, initially as a quick replacement that could be superseded later on when we finally got round to renovating the toilet area. So this was purchased with no expectations with the exception that there was a possibility it would increase it's stated DB's due to being installed in a wood ceiling with a large void above. Sleek, aerodynamic and aesthetically pleasing to look at, this unit is wonderfully simply to wire up with no awkward fiddly connectors that make wiring mains solid core cable a nightmare and switching between the two speeds is easily done. On the back of the unit there are hinged flaps that help eliminate back draughts. Bonus! We have the Timer version, so when the light is switched on there is a delay and then an almost imperceptible start of the motor. It is very very quiet and when you leave the room and close the door you can't hear if at all, even in the dead of night. My only bug bear with it is that it is difficult to remove the snap collar cover if you want to adjust the speed or timer. Obviously this means it's well protected from small inquisitive hands and fingers should they manage to find a way of getting up that high, which for a little inconvenience I suppose is a small price to pay. I really rate this fan highly.Read full review
