I purchased this device for its screen size and quality which meets and exceeds by needs. It has a 160gb Hard drive which up to now has easily coped with my requirements and will do so for quite a long time into the future. Its music playing qualities are easily as good as my Ipod which it replaced. Having said this the speaker could be of better quality. I have loaded the WiFi app which does what it says on the box (Quite slowly) but it does it. Using it has been quite a pleasant experience and it is quite logical in the way it is operated and it has quite a lot of apps to use. Now for the bad points. 1. Slow when using WiFi. 2. Poor quality speaker. 2. Can not find a DataBase programme for it. Its main use is to help me in my main hobby which is birdwatching. It is small and light enough to carry in the field. It holds hundreds of identifying photo's and other aids. I can also carry a folder full of unidentified bird photographs that I have taken. I have a mp3 file of bird calls and alarms for all British Birds in another folder which can be played through the inbuilt speaker. They can then be shown to other birdwatchers who can see them on a largeish, good quality screen on which I can zoom in on any part necessary without loss of quality. All in all a good tool and good value. I am well chuffed with it and would happily advise others to purchase. For my needs it easily betters my old Ipod 120gb.Read full review
I travel long distance by train quite a bit, and was already using my MP3 player to listen to music and watch video (converted from DVD), but it was a small screen. I'd seen the Archos discussed before and liked the online reviews. I took a chance and bought one off eBay. It is a brilliant piece of equipment. I can drag and drop my music from PC, I can drag and drop DVDs, I csan drag and drop pictures. The video playback is brilliant, large screen, high definition, good veiwing angles. I get about 3.5 hours video playback, which covers my usual journey one way, I recharge it from my laptop while I'm at work. I rate this Archos very highly.
Excellrnt, big screen MP3/4 player with Wifi, I got this because my Ipod classic is playing up and decided to try the Achos brand. A little dissapointing that archos don't include any of the added feratured (web browser, cinema, format support) as standard, they are sepperateperchaces, still an excellent picture quality and sound. As the screen is hugh (compaired to the Ipod classic) the power consumption is quite high, managed to view a film and a 1/2 hour program before it died, still good for a nice big sharp screen. Well worth the money at least as good as the Ipod.
A fabulous portable multimedia device. The 4.3 inch screen with unrivalled resolution is astounding, the speakers are better than satisfactory. The operating system is a version of Linux which is nice and easy to navigate. The only downside of this device is the unnecessary greed of ARCHOS to charge for plugins to play certain media extension types, watch youtube video's etc, when Linux is a free operating system. In all there are five possible plugins costing approximately 20 pounds each from Archos, although you can purchase all the plugins for less than 30 pounds from ebay! Don't let the plugins put you off, this is much better than an itouch!
