Nothing wrong with the e-bay seller - it was a good price for a brand new item However having had this model before I can see that it's been made cheaper. It seems less powerful and is noisy with a motor hum and vibration picked up in the thin plastics - sorted with some masking tape inside the cover. The 50Hz hum may be more noticeable because the fan itself is less noisy (different design) and possibly less powerful (smaller motor). Easy to fit in double glazing (with pre-cut hole as per required size). Get someone to hold the outside part in place or use sticky tape. It says use additional double-pole isolating switch (to comply with regs.)

The manufacture of this item is flimsy and the mechanism for opening the vents and start the fan didn't work at first due to stiffness of the parts. Only by repeatedly operating the parts by hand did I eventually get it going. Even then, it doesn't always respond when switched on. Only by pulling the cord away at an angle can I get it to operate properly.

There is a fault when opening fan as the spring included is too tight as the Louvres would not open and fan wouldn’t start. It worked perfectly with cover off, so we took the spring off our old expelair fan and put it on the new fan so it works now but still a bit tempremental.
