I have two Epiphone Les Pauls, can't afford the Gibsons. However, I am completely happy with the Epiphones. They are well built, feel great, and a lot easier on the wallet. Typically, I change the pickups as the ones that come in it are a little "muddier" than I like (Burstbucker Pro's for the Gibson sound and Seymoure Duncan Hot Rodded Humbucker set for big rock sound), but in reality they completely usable. I also do a few other upgrades just for fun and still come out WAY ahead on price. Also, make sure the Les Paul you get has the Grover tuners - most of the new ones do. Mine stay in tune really well with the Grovers. Unless you are a studio pro, or just have nothing better to do with your money, I would skip the Gibson and get the Epi, they really are great guitars!Read full review
My first electric and what a treat it is. I didn't know exactly what to expect when I bought it, I had never even picked up a solid body guitar before and I was a little surprised by the weigh, but when I plugged it in I knew it was a winner. Great sound, stays in tune nicely, looks good and is just plain fun to play, or, in my case try to play.
