Owned it for many years - it's a great poly analog. The mod/pitch wheels make it not much wider than my Nord Lead, but with an extra octave. This was/is one of the first poly synths to drag us out of the crappy user interfaces we've had to put up with since the DX7 (thanks Yamaha). Once you realise the power of tweaking sounds on the fly without having to look at a screen or menus, you will become a greater and more expressive musician. The sound engine is versatile - once you get into the mod matrix and figure out how you can use the mod destinations and the LFOs you will start creating some unique sounds. People gripe that it has no onboard FX, but if it did they'd complain they were the wrong ones, too 'digital' etc. etc. and it would push the price up. Do what most people do, route it through one or more FX pedals before your amp. I use a Line6 M5 which is dirt cheap and has tons of FX including a pretty nice analog chorus. Eventide BlueSky works amazingly to fatten up pads. You will not be constrained to limited sound manipulation like you would be on a mainstream synth, so if all you want is to play factory presets, this is probably not for you. It will teach you a ton about synthesis. The sweet-spot is sometimes hard to find compared to other analog synths, but that is a trade-off for having so much flexibility. Once you figure out how to reverse engineer sounds from your old Juno you'll be laughing and realising how much more potential you have here. The other gripe people have is DCO vs VCO. No point - they're Apples and Oranges. Once you've added a bit of osc slop, detuned each slightly and then run it through FX, it's going to sound just as good, and way more reliable tuning. Also allows for some complex modulations that would never be stable/tuneful with VCOs. Having said that, this has a completely different character to my Moog so there's still a place for VCOs in this world. Like I said, apples and oranges. Modern classic.Read full review

Great sounding instrument - especially love the saw triangle wave sounds! Exactly what I was looking for to replace cheap-sounding plugin synths.
