As I am not very good in the technical department I am surprised at how easy this printer is to set up. The features are great and the print quality is very good. I would highly recommend this printer to anyone..

the printer is a good size and looks ok. It only works connected to a computer and it wasn't that easy to set up. It was supposed to come with ink cartridges but we printed one thing (which was a quarter of an A4 page) and the ink has run out.

This printer was bought to replace another Epson printer which was elderly (10+ years old) and telling me it needed a service. The previous one was a fairly expensive "high end" machine so, rightly or wrongly, this new one had a lot to live up to. The Epson XP-342 is compact and lightweight. The installation was extremely easy and it was up and running in a few minutes. The (photo) print quality is excellent, but slower (about half the speed) than the one it has replaced. But you get what you pay for. The quality of the photocopying is also excellent, and the scanning is faultless. It is presumed that most people will connect it to their various devices wirelessly so, sadly, it is not supplied with a USB cable -- I used the one from my old machine. For a brand new machine at under £40 delivered to your door, it is fabulous value for money.Read full review

HP do offer similar printers for similar, or even less money, but HP's software is dreadful, and you have to use some of it to access all the printer's features. Epson's software is cleaner, easy to use, and works very well. I was looking for a cheap laser printer; in fact I own one, but I wouldn't bother. Unless you're doing high volume printing, the initial purchase cost of a respectable won't be recouped by the savings, and colour laser printers are still expensive.

I have had this printer for a few days now and the only snag for me is that I can't seem to set it to collate print runs. It is quieter than previous printers and the quality of printing is great.
