This cartridge's published specifications are as good as any of its competitors in this price range. To get anything significantly better, I would have needed to pay at least three times as much. Partnered with system components, (turntable, tone-arm, phonostage, etc), of eqivalent quality, it delivers a great sound. Treble and mid-range are well-defined, the bass is deep and crisp, and stereo separation is high. To my ears, I have a system that is limited only by the quality, (mastering, pressing and wear), of the recording. I have no hesitation in recommending this product.

I was hesitant about spending this much on a cartridge but am really pleased I took the plunge to try an upgrade when the stylus on my old cartridge broke. I did a lot of research on forums such as vinyl engine and the Audio Technica AT-0C9 was ofter referred to as people compared other cartridges to. Another factor was that I upgraded my phono-stage last year to one that could cope with moving coil cartridges without the need for a step-up transformer. Although the slightly deeper bass response appealed to me it was the high notes I really noticed the biggest difference with the fine details of the sound on things like cymbals etc. It's able to extract that little bit more detail through all the frequencies to create an amazing listening experience. Assuming the rest of your hi-fi system is of good enough quality you'll definitely be able to appreciate the benefits this cartridge offers.Read full review
