I've had a few cd recorders of different makes and this is easily the favourite on account playback is better than the others. You get real dynamics from this compared to my old Sony RCD-W100. Bass has a good knock to it and separation is blindingly good for what it is.

This Philips CD Player performs very well producing good recordings or copies, audio/music cd's have to be used which is a slight drawback but not a problem really. It does however seem to have a problem recognising CD's produced on a PC, but will sometimes read & play them. It's a shame that digital recordings are not able to be controlled with the same recording level that can be made with analogue. Overall this unit does the job very well especially as these days CD Recorders are few & far between & fairly expensive.
Could have been an excellent buy very easy to use and OK to look at but unfortumately it does not do what it is supposed to do. It wporked well at first and gave me some good recordings but then it stopped recording part way thru' a disc then would not read any CDRs used on it, I tried many makes but it refused to see them. Then it stopped playing recorded CDs, just stopped part way thru' and would not restart. As stated the basic design of the Deck is good and the manual is very good and easy to follow and would have been an excellent buy, if it worked. I bought it as I wanted CDs for my two cars {same CD in each one's autochanger with the master filed at home}, unfortunately my master plan did not work out - pity. I think I paid around £50 for it which at the time was about average for recorders on EBay, just picked the wrong one!Read full review
This machine is simple and effective to use. One needs to use disks that are marked digital audio - the previous owner had warned of his failures with ordinary CD-R's - but they are cheap and readily available, even in Asda. The recordings seem to be of good enough quality to use in the car, where I do a lot of my listening. While recording., one can mark the change in track by pressing pause and then play again.
