I have a pair of these on a 7.2 surround setup (Actually a Kef Kube 1 & a Kef Kube 2) and they are overkill in an 9metre by 4metre room - either one would be more than sufficient. The ability to set the hz range and optional band ranges allows fine tuning of your surround system - positioning is not that important for most rooms smaller than a cineplex as 20-100hz Bass is unique in that you cannot distinguish where its coming from. I am running two amps - a Marantz SR7001 for music and an Onkyo TX-NR636 for movies - both drive these very well and I would stronly recommend one if you are running small speakers for your TV/Home Theatre. I have 12 x Celestion 90cm floor-standing 3-way bi-wired speakers so the subwoofers are really an afterthought (although very effective).

Got this KEF sub on 'buy it now' and wasn't disappointed. I bought it to compliment an acoustically 'thin' set of wall speakers connected my recently purchased XCM51DAB Pioneer hifi. This is in the bedroom which is 'bluetoothed' to the TV and it gives a very respectable bottom end to the sound. Can,t comment on how it would perform with other systems. (Bluetooth lip sync on the Pioneer system is a problem but that's for another discussion, but KEF sub is v good)
