This Hitachi router is excellent, as many YouTube videos will attest. The fit and finish is first-rate and the motor is very powerful. The fact that this kit includes the plunge base makes it all the router I'll ever need. Comes in a hard-sided case. Hitachi has now become Metabo, but if you can find any of these Hitachi units for sale, I recommend getting one without hesitation.

Not used it much so far, but WOW! This has to be the quietest and smoothest router I've ever used. Soft start up, so no sudden kick. Nice smooth speed control. Finish is nice, the only slight demerit has to be the plastic handles, the Bosch wooden ones are just a notch better - but... to get plunge and fixed bases for this price, I'm not going to complain. And, did I say how quiet it is? Even my wife commented on it.....

First Hitachi wood router ive owned but any and all other tools I use by them has always been quality and long term use. Should I say abuse, I'm not easy on anything but these tools can take it. We'll see about this router.

Smooth, powerful, quiet, and accurate. A big step up from the lower-end router I was using. My only criticism is that the plunge mechanism is very stiff, i.e. the spring is very tight. Maybe it'll loosen up with use?
