I wanted to change the OS on my Novatech laptop from Windows to Xubuntu, and decided to replace the SATA 2.5 inch hard drive at the same time to improve performance. I have done this before on other laptops, and on those occasions I opted for Sandisk Ultra Plus and Ultra II 240GB SSDs, but this time I thought I would try a Drevo X1 Pro 256GB SSD since it is cheaper and has similar performance figures. The Drevo SSD went into the laptop in the place occupied by the old hard drive with no problems, and so far it is performing well. It seems to have been a good choice.

I have been thinking about getting an SSD for some time but my system drive dying on me forced my hand, and my only regret is not having done it sooner. I was hesitant mainly because of the possibility of compatibility issues, and problems with physical mounting of the drive, but I need not have worried, as all the connections were the same as my SATA hard drive, and having no moving parts it does not really need mounting, and I was able just to place it on the drive bay floor in the foam protector it was shipped in, where it functions happily, making my PC load up Windows in super fast time, and speeding up programme operations. At such a reasonable price, it was a relatively cheap upgrade, and much cheaper than the original hard drive.
