About this product

Product Information

Tennis became important in the Heath Family's life early on - the twins were only nine, and the others younger when they started to play. But their grandfather and father before them had been top players - the four red-headed children had tennis in their blood. They join the competitive tournament circuit and battle hard to win! An absorbing story from an enormously popular children's author - and Noel Streatfeild's favourite book.

Always a positive experience buying from WOB. Love giving preloved books a new home instead of them going into landfill. Would highly recommend seller!

  • Delightful, beautiful, for adults and children

I bought this book as I know of the author to be of another equally charming book, Ballet Shoes, which was televised a few years ago and appeared at Christmas on BBC1 starring Harry Potter's Emma Watson. There was also a tennis exhibition I recently saw at an art gallery in Birmingham where this book was also placed. That gave me the impetous to this time buy it. The story of these children learning to play tennis was really in many ways a coming of age story told delightfully with an array of characters all unique in their own way and added a charm of thier own to the story. It is a delightful read for children and parents alike and not necessarily only a bedtime story: many a lessons can be learnt from this for children about patience, perseverance, and of course, tennis!
