I have bought breville kettles before and sometimes noticed a taste/smell of TCP With this new one the taste/smell is overpowering. I have looked on line and there are dozens of similar comments. I cannot find a way to return it to the supplier so I will just have to buy a different make, I believe that it is a reaction with the plastic. I have tried the various ways of removing the smell but to no avail.

Water boils quickly, the red indicator shows up well. The only downside of the kettle is the size of the circular spout, I find that a large amount of steam comes out when coming up to boil therefore it has to situated away from top cupboards to prevent steam damage.
