Surprisingly very good so far. I wasn't expecting it to be as durable as it is. Delivered very quickly and easy to assemble with a little help from the supplied manual, with no parts missing and all the screws / holes aligned properly, and everything fitted neatly. It comes with the raker part fitted but putting the scarifier part on is very easy with two allen bolts (an allen key is supplied). I did NOT test the raker, just the scarifier. I then used it to scarify about one fifth of an acre (approx. 30m x 27m) in preparation for sowing a wild flower meadow. It seems to be fairly powerful (1500W motor) and all the settings work properly. To adjust the height you have to pull the orange handle up first, which was not mentioned in the manual - just a small thing but it had me stumped for a minute before I figured it out. The only slight problem is that the collector box is fairly small and fills up quickly. But as long as you get into the routine of filling up and using a wheelbarrow alongside you then it's not too much of a pain. Also the electric cable is not that long at 10m so you may need an extension. I think it would be best suited for small to medium sized lawns, but it coped very well for what I needed it for. I would definitely recommend this as an inexpensive and effective machine for scarifying.Read full review

Initially worked very well, very fast almost running pace. But after 20 mins it stopped without warning. No signs of overheating and fuses were ok. I would not buy this machine again unless I had the smallest of gardens and then a hand rake would suffice! Very disappointed as the reviews were excellent. Also with electric it's a pain having to keep lifting the cable. I ended up hiring a robust petrol scarifier from my local hire shop for only £21 including VAT. No contest ! No storage! No maintenance worries ! Thank you to the supplier for collecting and refunding promptly.

Ordered Friday, arrived Saturday, was easy to assemble and is surprisingly robust. I decided to change the aerator blades to the scarifier cartridge before putting on the handles. Very simple. 2 screws with the Allen key provided. On the second-lightest setting, the amount of thatch removed was startling. Having read various reviews, I decided to dispense with the collecting bag from the outset, and mowed up all the debris afterwards. Looks vastly better already. I did 200 square yards in under an hour. The power of the motor does tend to pull forwards quickly, so it helps to try and hold it back a bit. It also emits a fairly high-pitched whine, which you would expect from a 1500w motor. The only downside is the trailing electric cable which has to be positioned on each run. With my wife's help I developed a technique of driving in one direction then freewheeling the scarifier back to the start point and doing the next strip. Really pleased with it and glad I bought it. Well worth the money.Read full review

Thought I might struggle with this as my lawn is on a slope, no problem. The machine is slightly bigger than the average lawnmower but it does the work for you - gliding through the grass picking up weeds, thatch and moss, it was so easy to use. Did what other reviewers suggested and took the grass collector off (it was full after less than 30 seconds) tied up the flap and then collected using my mower. The grass is intact but the rubbish that came off almost filled my wheelie bin. The quality and price are excellent and I would definitely recommend

I was torn between the option to hire a scarifyer or buy my own - but realised that the flexibility of owning my own makes it more likely that I will keep on top of my lawn better than without. My lawn was in a poor state so the small grass/moss collector was no use this first time. I sacrificed the lawn then simply raked up all of the debris. The machine is simple to use - requires a very small amount of assembly out of the box and although quite light, appears reasonably well made. I would recommend this machine and now look forward to the challenge of getting on top of my lawn.
