For it's price, brilliant. Have had one for years and dropped it, putting a large crack in the base. Ordered a new one, Silverline Branded.. Does all it is supposed to do and cuts well.

Came in kit form, with no instructions other than a parts diagram. Needs a bit of logic to put together. I bought this to replace a very similar product that I was very happy with, but on first use was disappointed that the blade framework did not allow a vertical cut through wood. I wonder if I made a mistake in assembly but with no instructions....

This mitre saw is easily assembled (once I got the grey packing tabs off the steel uprights and got the saw assembly in place. I found no real difficulty following the diagram and figured out where the little plastic hoops that serve as depth stops go, (first and the saw slides on the rails over them). As for the cutting; it does keep to any line I have tried and have made good square cross cut and angle-cuts, so I can now cut square in both the horizontal and vertical axis; which I could not yet do 'freehand'. It's good solid base and little to no 'play' in the blade. One tip: I found that a thin sacrificial bit of scrap wood under your work-piece will get last few millimeters cut, as I have several uneven boards and timber to hand. With better lumber will come better cuts. Overall, I feel it is good value and very serviceable addition to any DIYer's workshop. Pro: Solid cast base, fitted to the supplied cramping board you are focused on cutting and not holding. Good value and ready supply of various 550mm blades easily sourced online. Performance is as you would expect. Con: Lack of written instructions slowed assembly, but only briefly. I would still need something else for ripping cuts, but 'this' saw makes my cross cuts 99.9% better.Read full review

Having read a few bad reviews, I decided to go for it . Used on quadrant for edge of laminate flooring. Did a few different mitred angles , round a bay window . Chimney breast etc , providing you get the right angle and set the saw right , go gently not like a raging bull , it's cuts perfect . Excellent little saw and couldn't of done the job without it .10 out of 10 , glad I bought it .

I used to have one of these years ago and all the parts were made of metal , now plastic has been used in certain parts which flex when sawing and result in a cut which is far from accurate and miles off for accuracy . May be ok for cutting narrow picture frames but useless for skirting board . A total waste of money
