As a recent photography student I needed a camera that was easy to use and is great quality - this is the camera. I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking to start up in photography and isn't ready for an advanced piece of kit. However, the straps and booklet that came with my 450D canon camera smelt so badly off cigarette smoke that even after 5 washes the smell still lingers. I wouldn't say this has affected my thoughts on the camera as there was no issue there (and thats the main thing) but I now need to purchase a new strap for my camera - just be wary if you consider buying this. Except from the smoke smell everything is perfect!!!! - very fact postage too.

Ideal camera for beginners who doesn't want to spend a lot of money on a camera, ideally bought together with kit lens (18/55 mm). Remember once you commit to a brand, your'e going to be stuck with it. Plenty of creative features for beginners to master, unlike your point & shoot cameras. Lots of used Canon EOS 450D / Rebel XSi available at a reasonable price.
