Packing was poor, especially considering the item is imported and has travelled a long way. Box was reasonably strong but parts were wrapped in brown paper which is not sufficient to protect parts. Items were loose in the box with sufficient room to move about and cause damage if box is handled roughly or dropped in transit. Mesh on the main body of the chiminea was dented and damage corresponded to damage to the box. If internal packing had been better this would not have happened. Fortunately the mesh was easily pushed back into shape so no didn't bother to return. Nothing was missing and the nuts and bolts seem to be good quality and they even supply washers which is unusual these days. Instructions were clear and simple with good diagrams and in English which made assembly quick and easy. To be honest most people with DIY experience would probably be able to assemble without instructions. Door was crooked so had to bend the hinge a bit to make it shut but an easy fix so not a problem. I've read some reviews about this and similar chimineas where the writer says they're disappointed as they expected it to be bigger. I can't understand why, the dimensions are given and most people have access to a ruler or tape measure. If you have a country manor house with a patio the size of a football field it would seem small. It's ideal for the average person with a small garden and patio, to sit around on a cold evening and toast marshmallows. I've not tried it yet but intend to in the very near future. Overall I would recommend this, quality is reasonable and assembly is easy with good instructions. Price makes it a bargain when compared to others of a similar size costing much more. The more expensive ones may be better quality but without comparing side by side it's difficult to tell. It's true you get what you pay for but at 35 quid its a bargain, I would have paid more. Time will tell how durable it is and how long before it starts to go rusty. I wouldn't recommend leaving it outside when not in use as this will accelerate the rusting progress. When it does go rusty I'll get some high temperature paint and repaint it. If I get a few years use out of it I'll be happy. I've tried to write a fair and balanced review, hope someone finds it useful.Read full review
