So far it has worked very well and I don't see any reason why it should not last pretty well given reasonable care in handling. It certainly seems well made. It seems quite a lot faster than the inbuilt drive of my old laptop and I have not found any problems with media or formats. Installation is very easy, but not totally automatic in all cases. I think if you have a new laptop that has not previously connected to a CD/DVD drive you are likely to need to tell Windows 10 to look for a driver, but that is about all you have to do apart from plugging into a USB slot that does have power for external devices. The drive's cable stores neatly in the understide of the unit. Altogether very good value and no problems.

Very lightweight, and feels cheap (it was). The cable is really short and exits from under the writer at the back and where it`s folded for storage making it hard to use on either of my tower pc's although I suppose it could be ok for use with a laptop When you press the button to open the drive it barely opens wide enough to get a grip to pull it fully open and there is only 2/3 of a base unit to hold the dvd although it was helped by the centre spindle gripping the dvd. And even though it`s USB3 it`s only 8x at full whack. On the plus side it does what it`s supposed to do and writes the disks I was using on my old pcs and does it quite quietly. All in all if you have no DVD/CD writer/reader on your pc this does the job for a very reasonable price.

Cheap and cheerful, but works. The main downside is that the loading tray opens only about far enough to get a fingernail in and, if you're not quick enough to pull the tray open completely, the disc will start to spin up again. So more often than not the disc is spinning when I manage to get the tray open. As I'm only using it to rip occasional CDs it's something I can live with, especially for the price. As other reviews have said, it doesn't install and get recognised as per the "instructions", but it does come up correctly in Device Manager. Can't comment on speed, as I'm ripping my CDs to FLAC, which is inherently a slow process, but it seems error free so far.

Early days, but plays CD and DVD well. Reliability unknown, but so far so good and with a year's guarantee must be good value for £11. Very light weight, which may be useful for portable work, but possibly fiddly for arthritic fingers. Seems to take less current than some do from USB port, as works well on single lead.

This item is perfectly suited to my laptop but is not compatible with my desktop which both use Windows 10...despite that it is a compact unit which functions as it should with my laptop...price is very reasonable, easy to use and its light weight makes it very portable!
