Brilliant bit of kit, does both ground coffee and ESE pods. As a Marine Biologist and avid Fly Fisherman, I'm constantly out at early hours by the waters edge.... no plug sockets there, and instant coffee just does not cut the mustard for a "coffee Snob" such as myself. So the answer to my prayers is this classy little gizmo!! a few pumps, a splash of water from the very efficient flask and hey presto a yummy coffee no matter where you are! I even took it to the maternity ward when my daughter was being born.... it was a hit with the nurses doing the night shift at 4am, saving them from the watery bitter excuse for coffee they have to have. How did I live without this???? Is there any bad points you may ask?? Well, it wouldn't be a proper review if there wasn't! The restriction to ESE pods is a problem... the ground coffee adaption is brilliant, but when out and about it is fiddly, so you use the pods. But trying to find the pods in the Joe Bloggs supermarkets is a chore. Illy (a lovely coffee) does ESE pods, and you can get them online (please bear in mind I live on the island of Anglesey so the shops here do not have the variety that you may have where you live). The ground coffee adapter is pod shaped.... this gives the impression you could "botch" a non ESE plastic pod into the Handprsso fooling it to work..... this is not the case. I ended up just cutting into the incompatible pods and using the contents in the ground coffee adapter (proving it a handy thing to have). So if you are an active person, or environmentally minded.. (no electricity, and only paper waste from ESE pods) the Handpresso is for you!! I love mine.Read full review
If you watch the video on their website first then bought it off the back of it then you may be a bit dissapointed! I bought the hybrid and strived to get the same quality snd crema as they did but with ESE pods I found I had no chance at all. I have come somewhat close using Illy ground coffee so this is what I will stick to. I won't be buying any more pods!. I see the handpresso not as an alternative to my Delonghi Magnifica but as a substitute when I am out on walks. I do use it now and again at home but now need to buy a few extras for it. Would I buy it knowing what I do now? I probably would.
My partner is over the moon with this present, it’s fantastic.

What a utterly brilliant invention! We needed a decent coffee maker for our camper - cafetieres and stove tops are just too messy. The Handpresso is hewn from granite (or feels like it) so should last forever, is easy to use and makes excellent, mess free coffee. I've actually found myself using it in the house too as it's quicker than my three stove top machines! Search around for cheap ESE pods - a few do direct imports from Italy at a bargain price. Expensive but IMO, well worth the money. Just make sure you pre-heat the hot water "bulb" and your cup otherwise it'll cool too much.
Very pleased with this Handpresso. I thought I was buying a ESE version which takes the ESE pods but I actually bought the Domepod version. At first I thought I would return it but I have actually got along with it very well. It takes a few goes to master the method. The key seems to be making sure that the Domepod is full of coffee and well tampered (use the end of the pump as the tamper.) Doing this gives a better creme. It also seems to be best to let all of the water pass through the pod rather than stopping it as this dries out the grounds a bit and makes it easier to empty them out afterwards. I am keen to take it on the road and see how it works but so far so very good. One happy Handpresso owner.
