Very mixed feelings about this laptop. While classic design still prevail and that alone is a great news, addition of display port and optional battery slice makes a whole lot difference (I purchased two of these machines in a month's time and about to get third) though keyboard takes a bit to get used to and lack of latch securely locking the screen is a miss (in my opinion). I'd say that overall X220 lived to the business-minded consumer expectations and to me personally seem like a clear winner over more recent X230. Performance wise it does what it claims it can do and more but if you are looking for richer multimedia experience do consider more pro-sumer oriented models with better HD specs in screen real estate department.
Bought one second hand on a whim for £100. I needed a laptop but didn't want to spend a few hundred on a new one, turned out to be one of the best I've owned. Ok the screen isn't full hd but good enough for my needs. Mine came with 8gb ram which I upgraded to 16, it had a 300gb hdd but replaced that with 400gb ssd and installed 256gb msata drive. It came with Bluetooth 3 which can be upgraded to Bluetooth 4 if you flash the bios with the latest modified bios, the screen can be replaced with an ips screen or even a full hd one but I don't really need that and it's not very easy to do. The 6 cell battery is good but upgraded to the official 9 cell one, which can last around 8 hours with light usage, even longer if you know how to tweak your system. I have it dual booted with win10 and linux, both have no problems running on this. I also replaced the thermal cpu paste, not an easy job as it requires removing a lot of guts inside to get to the cpu, YouTube was a great help. Mine came with a legit copy of Windows 7 pro but I found out Microsoft are still giving away windows 10 for free (June 2018), it upgrades the OS with whatever version of Windows you already have so I got win10 pro for nothing, Brucey bonus My laptop now boots to desktop within 20 seconds, it's also very quite. I love the keyboard and most of the lenovo shortcut keys. Also, there is still a community out there supporting this laptop so help is always at hand. Cons are no usb 3 support, i believe the i7 version does but not the i5 Cpu cannot be replaced. Not ips screen. Speakers not very loud (but can be replace apparently - on my list of upgradings) Although I'd love the latest surface pro I cant justify spending that amount of money when this suits me just fine. Cant see me getting a new one for some time yet.Read full review

Works fast and smooth, fantastic array of features and a massively impressive battery life to boot! although not as pretty as a mac book it is easily as powerful and a fraction of the price, highly recommend machine.
This Lenovo Think Pad is fast! I have had macbook's in the past but my new/old Lenovo is faster and better. I swear by it now. Don't hesitate to buy one. Just do it!
