I have had a Blaupunct DAB player swapped to 3x different vehicles over the years because I love the extra channels and digital quality. However I decided that it was too much hassle to change to my new vehicle again so bought a PURE highway DAB. I bought it off Ebay, it was opened but otherwise unused. It comes as a kit with platform, leads and stick on ariel, etc. Now I live in Aylesbury and I know that the analogue and digital signal has always been quite bad. When I fitted the 'Highway' and stuck the ariel on the windscreen it was supposed to find a free FM radio frequency, which it didn't. I drove around for a while and kept stopping and retuning and eventually it found one. Hooray I thought. But as I drove around I kept losing the signal. Retuned again and it kept doing it. I don't use it now because it is very annoying. All the stations are tuned in but I assume that I need to buy another more expensive ariel for it to work properly. If you live in a good area and don't go anywhere very far it's probably very good. Otherwise get a proper DAB fitted with a good ariel or buy a highway with an aftermarket ariel and throw theirs away!!!!Read full review
Fitted to the car without the supplied bracket, bought an extension lead for the antenna and ran it to the rear window and mounted it there. Fitted unit in armrest and ran power lead to the 12v socket. The unit is now permanently fitted and out of the eyes of car thieves. I listen to absolute 80s and have driven from Yorkshire to Dorset, without the loss of signal. The sound quality is brilliant, and cannot fault it. For the price it's a good unit, I don't think I could have coped with the unit on the windscreen with all the wires everywhere.
Had made myself a DAB set up in my car using a Belkin FM transmitter and a cheap Tesco DAB portable radio. I had fitted a good quality exterior aerial and it worked great. Bought the Pure Highway just because it looked a bit more tidy than the connecting cables I had to use. Most dissapointed that the Highway would not run off batteries and had to have a great big ugly power supply from the power socket. Worst of all the reception was next to useless even though this item is made specifically for in car use. Read several reviews on line and most said it was waste of money. My set up cost me £21.00 brand new and worked great. The Pure Highway cost 3 times as much and was rubbish. Beware and avoid at all cost.
Easy to set up, easy to use, simply amazing. No more boring radio 1/radio 2/local stations, its 5live, sporttalk and 6music for me at work all day, and its easy to attach your mp3 too. I've bought a second aerial for my car too, my missus loves it too. Crystal clear quality, a much better reception than simple mp3 transmitters, and with DAB built in. SIMPLY AWESOME
I bought this item because i like listening to sport channels while driving, which is only available with digital. When it works it is great very good sound quality, but i live in the country where digital signal is not very good so the signal keeps dropping in and out, even after i bought an external areal. I do not think that this country is ready for digital radio reception for vehicles. As this is a add on to standard radio i do not know if a dedicated digital radio would be any better
