The floor cleaner works wonderful, Our home is a little over a year old. We do not have pets, and do not ware our shoos in the house. The tile floors had a black film on them, and our white socks got dark colored on the bottoms. We washed the floors with water, mop, and cleaners (small amounts of laundry detergent), the black film seemed worst after we cleaned. Reading the reviews for the Hoover Floor Mate, we made the purchase. As suggested in some of the reviews that we read, we used a mixture of vinegar and water. The Floor Mate worked great, easy to use, and clean up. The tile is black film free. We will continue to use the Floor Mate for maintaining the floors, it is easy to use, and clean up. Our grand children no longer have black on the bottoms of their feet. We have a suggestion: It would be nice if the Floor Mate had a setting that would allow the user to scrub the floor, and not vacuum up the water at the same time, (that would allow the user to get the floors cleaner), than the vacuum scrub setting could be used, prior to dry vac. We did use towels to wipe up any remaining water that was in left in the uneven area. We would give a ratting of five stars, if the Floor Mate had the ability to scrub, and not vacuum at the same time.Read full review

Does a good job of picking up dirt, as opposed to just moving it around the floor like a steamer does. As other reviewers have commented: the clean water tank is quite small and empties quickly, necessitating that it be removed and filled frequently. On additional comment/concern is that I wish the suction would be stronger, because a fair amount of water remains on the floor after I am done.

This a great easy way to clean tile and linoleum floors in an average to small house. I use it for my entryway and kitchen all the time. Be sure to sweep or vacuum up loose debris (pet hair etc.) first for best results. Then follow the instructions and scrub clean your floors. I like the cleaning action, the vacuuming-up action of the extra water on the floor and the over all quality/performance. Not to be used on low-end wood laminate floors, but ok for hardwood sealed ones. I just wish it scrubbed even harder for tile floors and the cleaning solution tank was larger. I am very happy with this product. I'd give it 4 1/2 stars if I could!

I just wish the rotating bristles or scrubber are a bit more harder or stiffer in texture, and are pressed harder on the floor when it's on, so it can clean even better. Maybe something Hoover would consider on doing on the next version of the Spin Scrub. UPDATE - 10.21.2019 It stopped working.

My 11 year old Floormate of the same design finally died after much usage. I've used it once every two weeks or about 286 times for around 30 minutes or 143 hours of use. Over those years I did have to replace the air filter, the detergent bin and most recently the accessory hose. None of those parts was very expensive online. Just shop for the lowest price. The final failure was a break in an internal hose. I tried to see how to replace it but it looked impossible to fix so I purchased a new unit. The accessories and the two liquid tanks from the older model fit perfectly on the newer model. Just a different color. So I now have a few spare parts. The scrub brush design has changed a bit and there is no longer a special grout scrubbing brush in the accessory kit. Otherwise everything is about the same so I expect at least 143 hours of use from it. It does a nice job cleaning both tile and hardwood floors so it's a keeper.Read full review
