This is my fourth purchase of this now old tech the last one failed with the tuner. The most recent purchase has just failed with the hard drive which fortunately I have a spare from the old tuner failed one .great item great value much better than you humax

I replaced my old Humax which had died with a second hand purchase off eBay. The unit performs all functions except for intermittent skipping on playback which my old unit also had. I suggest that most hard drive recorders of this vintage will have similar issues but at £46 represents good value for money as the playback issue is not constant.

Good - Set-up easy bar tuning into local programmes, box looks good, seems well made, remote is superficially good, recording & pausing live TV are easy to use & access, hard drive has good level of storage, large number of connections (both old scart/RF & new HDMI), on screen displays are okay, lot quieter than reported elsewhere (older ones apparently had lot of fan noise), seems to use little power both in standby & normal function, picture in picture & 3 display formats useful, rewinding moment on programme you're not recording is great, screwed together in UK (Northern Ireland) albeit by a Korean firm. Bad - Can't get box to auto-change channels when scheduled programme comes on, unit auto-tuned to BBC stations in Midlands despite living in Manchester, picture quality a little worse than old Virginmedia box, Freeview doesn't show as many options on red button as with cable/satellite, unit often hesitates to come out of standby (needing 2 - 3 pushes), first remote developed malfunction after 3 days & replacement had clunky buttons (original was quite smooth), bottom slider on remote (to access extra buttons) is flimsy & cheap feeling, navigation & layout of remote's buttons are not as intuitive as you'd like, user manual is laughably bad. Overall - The design could be better, but I'm still reasonably content at this price point. Would have gone for TVonics (designed & made in UK) if it wasn't for company being in administration!Read full review
I received this item and used it for about a day before realising a problem exists which limits the functionality and therefore limits the fun; Until this point I was delighted with the purchase and used the recorder without the need for reading too much of the user guide. The picture quality is very clear and more stable than when these freeview programmes were received using the same aerial directly feeding the digtal TV. In addition, I received many more channels, which in themselves justified the purchase. Then there is the extra program information which is useful plus at least two different ways to view programmes and a search feature which I have not yet used. Recording is easy and once again has more than one method available. Moreover, the recording is clever with its knowledge of when the program starts and ends even if the schedule changes or the programme is interrupted, but adverts seem to be included in recordings which is a shame. The unit has other features I am sure I will find useful. The problem is that the recorder has locked up for long periods, where it continues to play the current programme perfectly but none of the controls work on either the handset or the unit itself. Powering off and on again resolves the issue, but not always for long enough to check the other program schedules. Having said this the unit has now worked perfectly for 2 of the 3 days used so far so I do not know how reliable the unit will be in the future. It may have been the continual use day and night over christmas day which revealed the fault because since then, the unit has been switched off more over night and the fault has not manifested itself. If so, the fault may be manageable. However, this fault has put me in a dispute with the seller with the difficulty of not knowing what is a fair resolution since I can not at this stage quantify the reliability of the device. In summary, when it works without fault, the recorder is excellent and even when it develops the fault, the limitation is, as far as I can determine, limited to changing channels only. As a minimum, the seller should offer a partial refund, else a negative feedback is the only option.Read full review
I needed a dig recorder so the Humax PVR 9300t allows me to get free view and acts as set top all in one. I had it recommended to me by my son in law who had used it for quite a while. I was surprise on opening the box to find a note suing it has 500 rather than 320 GB hard disk.... a real bonus Pretty simple to set up and tune in on automatic. Haven't had it many weeks but no problems so far.Have noticed like some other reviewers that the hard disc is quite audible as it kicks in. As so often happens with instruction books it isn't easy to find what you want.... e.g how to stop a recording once it has started! Simple enough if you try all the buttons!! Looks in place under the TV ... and of course haven't had to change the TV for digi signal with the ability of the Humax to cope.. Final good point for me was to get it new from E Bay for little over half price.Read full review
