Bought this camera to transfer some old Hi8 tapes and as a player it works very well easy to use and reliable. Recently gave it to my daughter (soon to be mother) and she has also found it simple to use very good quality recording and plent of functions for the gadget fan, she however uses it for the simple recording and playback, its not to heavy but if your planing to use it alot i would recommend a tripod(as she is intending on recording the birth) and if that is all you want then this is a very good camcorder for that function, has a good battery life and is easy to charge, a simple flick of the on button and your away. The digital zoom becomes grainy but the optical zoom is very good and clear. If your looking for a simple and easy to use camera then you wont go wrong with this model.
This High8 camcorder allowed me to transfer my colection of holiday films onto DVD format. Without the camcorder I would not have been able to view these fims again.
