Classic design, robust, yet thoughtful engineering, this portable record player is excellent. The quality of sound far exceeds any expectations I had prior to ordering. I couldn't be more content with my purchase.

The Crosley Collegiate CR6010A is an excellent (if very slightly larger) replica of the 1960s Bush 'TopTen' battery radiogram. It doesn't have battery power, but it runs from a 12v mains power supply which stows neatly in the base. The build quality is excellent and the performance, including stereo speakers, is impressive. It's not hi-fi, but it performs very well. The price seems high, but it is probably cheaper in real terms than the original, which only played 7" 45rpm records in mono. This is a three-speed unit which plays all sizes up to 12", in stereo. While it doesn't have a radio (the Bush had a radio tuned to just the Long-wave Light programme), the Collegiate does have modern features: There is a tone control and sockets for stereo headphones, auxiliary input (a 3.5mm stereo jack cable is supplied) and a USB cable and software CD for connecting to a computer to create digital music files. The sales blurb doesn't really make the most of its features - this is a great little player. It's just a shame it doesn't have battery power to make it truly portable, like the original.Read full review
