I mean at under a tenner wasn't expecting a fantastic lock but seems good quality enough, the padlock works OK also not the thickest of chain but will take an angle grinder to get through it in which if someone wants it bad enough any lock can be ground through. Overall happy!

I originally bought this chain to secure a motorcycle, but upon inspection I found that the links are cold forged and the ends not welded together making it easily possible to pry them apart without having to cut through them. The metal used is also quite soft and I would estimate that it could be hacksawed through in under a minute. The padlock is quite sturdy though. This would make a good bicycle lock where it was left in a public place as it could not be forced by hand but I wouldn't trust locking anything valuable to it where there was a possibility that someone could use bolt cutters or a hacksaw or pry bar to it unobserved. If a bicycle lock is what our after it's lightweight and good value, but not good for anything else.

Both the lock and chain are of good quality, not an 'easy steal' at all. After buying my first one we've ended up with four as all the family wanted them (we all have bicycles). You can buy lighter and smaller pedal cycle locks (so if you want something 'dinky' when you're riding a 'lightweight' it won't be for you), but it outclasses the light cable & padlock combinations. This one is a great deterrent if you are going to lock your bike to a lamppost and leave it unattended, it's long enough to go through both wheels, the frame and accessories as well as round the lamppost. The links are somewhat 'light' compared to many motorbike chains and I wonder how a large bolt cropper would cope with them? For a pedal cycle a 'D' lock would be harder to cut, but doesn't have the flexibility to lock wheels, frame, rack etc, which the length of this provides. The fabric chain sleeve protects the bike paintwork etc., but also hides the chain, and most casual thieves would assume there's a monstrously heavy motorbike chain lock in there, as I've never seen anything other than motorbikes using such locks. I've also never found a motorbike lock light enough to carry around in my bicycle basket!Read full review

The price was low and the quality is reflected in this. The lock is a little lffy the being ill fitting. I needed a chain to backup another chain already fitted so I was happy to hang on to it if only to deter and slow down would be thieves. On its own I would not really recommend this product. The only reason I could give 4 stars is as a backup chain.
