They are perfect when the lawns dry but as I need to use them in Autumn finding a day to use them when the lawns are not wet/damp is not easy in the north of England. I tried them out after it had been raining the night before. As a result the soil stuck to the bottom of them making them difficult to use and walk in.

I would recommend the sole and spikes but not straps. I found the straps kept coming loose and they would fall off (although I did have straps on right) I tried tightening them and the buckle broke. I solved problem by using cable ties and then was able to walk around lawn. As I dont need to do it that often I did not mind cutting cable ties after use. I expect leather straps would work as well

The sandals work just fine, but don't expect to dance around the garden. This is hard work. The major problem is that the retaining straps are absolutely useless! They just don't work, the buckles do not grip. I use nylon cable ties (re-useable are best and the wider the better). Why the manufacturer doesn't fix the problem is beyond me - Velcro would work.

I would not recommend this product for 2 reasons. Firstly the straps come loose as you walk in them, they just can't be tightened enough. Secondly, even if they did stay on it is a difficult product to use. If you need to aerate a lawn you are likely to have damp heavy soil, this means it takes an effort to pull your feet up as you walk, and it is hard to keep your balance. You end up walking so slowly you'd be better off going round with a garden fork.

i bought this boots hoping to make airing the grass easy but instead i found it to be most un comfortable as my feet are size 4 and the boot must be a 9 so the straps will not cover my feet so when i put them on to walk around the garden they came off all the time so i went back to plan b and uses a fork which took longer and free as i had one in the shed so if you do not have big feet don,t buy
