well,i got this out of the box and it took me ages to figure out how it goes on!of course i didnt look at the instructions-does anybody?,and its a headcollar-ive been using a much simpler type for years-unfortunately these are no longer available,no one makes them anymore.these, and the halti i find unnecessarily complicated, with buckles and clips-i might have a crack at making my own. i digress-once id cracked it,it does its job,no problems and my dog seems happy enough in it.had to only give 4 stars though.

Having been recommended for our two dogs one a Beagle/Pointer Crossbreed the other a Basset/Pointer Crossbreed both heads being slightly different unfortunately both dogs did not like the halter as it kept riding up too close to their eyes. Having tried a number of different adjustments without success and not wishing to have the dogs fret and become upset we are now looking to see if there is any other product on the market that does not wrap round the muzzle and cause distress. I am sure there are breeds who will not have the problems we have faced it is a case of try and if it doesn't work try something else.

I have been using the Gentle Leader now for several years. After trying out the various types of headcollar over the years it has proved time and time again to be of great use and more acceptable to my dogs than any of the others available. Not only that it is great value for money and lasts for many years

Our young labradoodle was dreadful at pulling on the lead with just a collar. With this there was an immediate difference, she's much easier to control. According to the instructions she should learn over time not to pull so we don't need this arrangement for ever, but we haven't seen that happen yet. She doesn't really like it, particularly the bit that hangs under her chin which seems to irritate her if left on when not using the lead - but for us humans it's great.

Definitely helps ameliorate very strong pulling but dog not too happy. Puppy mostly tolerates it but on occasion rubs her head across ground - grass or tarmac - to try to get it off, with the result that's she's scratched her little face. I so hope she grows up to not need it but in the meantime, to coin a phrase, it's me or the dog. I have a horrible feeling I'm going to have to go to strength-training classes and go back to harness for walkies
