Only bought this item for the cradle and charger as it was reported to be faulty. The parts work with my camera (same unit). However after a little bit of tinkering I found that all it required was a software reset on the camera and it is now working like new so I have a fully working spare camera. Great value for the spare cradle and charger and battery but the camera being now working is a great bonus.
I wanted to update my 5 year old Digital Camera and started by looking at the different makes and models on offer, I purchased the magazine 'What Camera' and read the reviews on many Cameras and finally decided to have a closer look at the Casio EX-Z1000. This model seemed to have everything that I would like in a Camera, a list of fantastic features and a look of quality. My next step was to get this Camera demonstrated in one of the High Street Camera stores, and I have to say I was more than impressed with the results and the abundance of features displayed to me by the very obliging assitant. I did the same thing with 3 other Cameras and simply decided that the best buy would be the Casio EX-Z1000, the only obstacle being the price of over £300, I'm not saying that this was over priced, I had not envisaged spending that amount of money on a Camera, after all I am not going to be using it every day or every week, then again I had decided that I was going to get a good camera at the best price. This is where Ebay came into the picture (excuse the pun) and lo and behold this turned out to be another Ebay blessing. I managed to find the Casio EX-Z1000 Camera, I used my simple, what I like to think secret way of tracking down the very item I required with the bidding finishing at the best time in order to get a bargain. I found everything I wanted and then pounced to get this in excess of 10 megapixel Camera for less than £130 including post and packing. This Camera boasts over 10mp and provides excellent faultless nice bright sharp pictures, It has a lovely 2.5 LCD, it has Anti Shake, Wide angle and Telephoto pictures at the same time, I have plenty of menus and on screen help which makes it quite a doddle to use. It uses the SD picture card format and also has an inbuilt memory, Auto shut off to save the battery, Very crisp fine detail results every time, Auto flash and many other features. The Camera has a cradle, you just sit the Camera in the cradle to charge the battery and also to download your photos or to print direct without going through your Computer if you want to go that way. I really love the size of the Camera apart from the results it produces, the ease of use and also the very acceptable price I purchased for with the help of good old EBAY. Terrific, a fine product at an unbelievable price thanks to my friend EBAY.Read full review
After endless trawling through thousands of listings, we settled on the casio for 4 main reasons: 1 price 2 resolution 3 screen size 4 zoom We bought a manufacturers reconditioned camera with usb docking cradle for a fraction of the competitors prices. The 10MP resolution is perfect for large portraits of the family and high quality photo's for all those ebay listings! The screen is super bright and massive for such a small camera, taking up 4/5s of the rear of the camera. The 3 x optical and 4 x digital zoom was more than adequate and coupled with the resolution makes macro close ups of tiny insects a new and fun way to terrify the kids! The usb cradle makes viewing the pictures easy, either on the camera as a slide show or direct transfer to the computer, it's all done with the touch of a button. AND, if that wasn't enough, the cradle charges the battery too! All in all i am overjoyed with the whole casio camera experience and can find no negatives (ha ha photographic pun) to write here. Would heartily recommend buying one, and if i break mine, i'll be getting another.Read full review
My girlfriend having an old Fuji A350, she was constantly annoyed by the tiny dim screen on the camera. I have been a fan of Casio Exilim cameras ever since I bought my EX-S770 slim camera, so I decided I can get her a Casio Exilim too and when I bought the EX-Z1000 I was a bit disappointed at first because of the size. It was huge compared to the S770 but it was fair. The functionality does indeed live up to the Exilim brand. Also, the EX-Z1000 accepts SDHC cards, my 8GB card didn't have any problem at all. The pictures are sharp and detailed, very little barrel distortion and the huge screen is a bliss to use, be it in the dark or bright daylight, it adjusts the brightness automatically. However, the camera is a bit slow to lock focus in dim light and also it's anti-shake system is done in the DSP (software), but it manages to take off some blur. Pictures taken in dim lighting are a bit grainy and lack definition. As for the video recording, it lacks a dedicated record button as seen on the S770. You have to select video recording from the BestShot menu, which is quite frankly a bit annoying. On a 8GB card, on high quality settings, you can easily record 4 hours and 46 minutes of video. However, you are limited to a maximum file size of 4GB, which means you can record up to 2 hours and 23 minutes of video at one go. Overall, I think it's a good performer. The metal casing of the camera does a good job at protecting the camera but be careful not to bump the camera as dents show up quite easily. Very good camera for most people who are not too demanding but want good pictures.Read full review
Its a decent quality camera, loads of features, easy to use, takes great pictures and shoots video with sound. The only criticism I have is that low light pics with the flash are not very good, but then its only a little camera with a little flash, so what do you expect?! It has a rechargeable battery and docking station which makes it very easy to sync with your PC and charge the camera up too. Overall very nice, looks good, feels like a very high quality bit of kit with its brushed alloy casing and large screen.
