Having never had a Nikon before I looked at this one and thought yip lets see if we can get it. So I did and it is a lightwieght easy to use digital camera with some great features. I am hoping to put it to good use soon as I am off on holiday and it should be a great camera to use alongside my others. I have so far ound nothing to complain about with it. I have a couple of other cameras which are film type so this should out perform these with what I have seen so far with Nikon D40 6.1 MP and then Consina 19-35,3.5 lens is good as well as being compatable with my other cameras.

Simple and a pleasure to use with brilliant picture quality. Metering And af spot on. Small and light to carry (unlike my Nikon d7100). 6mp does mean you don’t get the cropping ability of newer models though.

Over the years Ive had just about every type of Camera, from 120 roll film & 35mm to the latest Bridge & DSLR's...in my opinion the Nikon D40 is one of the best digital cameras from a handling point of view...& Id say that 6MP is more than enough quality for the average person..beware of the hype with more Mega Pixels & new Cameras that appear every few months.
Very happy with this camera have some very good quality pictures from this, recommend.
