It's a well made item and pretty simple to put together. It has a decent power cable length and seems to work well - we will see if the lawn looks better this time next year !! A down side (for us amateurs) is that the instructions just cover safety and initial assembly - there is nothing to tell you how and when to use it etc. So questions like - should the collector be attached when aerating or is it just used when scarifying; and, should I aerate first and then scarify or vice-versa etc. etc. remain a mystery and will end up being a trial and error process. After having used the machine a few times, I've got the following observations: (1) The height adjustment is a bit fiddly and it's not easy to see whether both sides have been adjusted equally. In addition the small rear wheels can dig in when pulling backwards - it would have been better to have a rear roller. (2) The aerator blades don't really cut cleanly, so in effect they just act as another scarifier. After using it, I was hoping for a lot of nice neat slices in the lawn to allow air in, and give better drainage - but I just ended up with the same result as if I had scarified the lawn. (3) The collector is pretty useless. It is fabric sided over a flimsy frame and just collapses flat if you rest it down, which then spills much of the contents. It is also quite small, and the blades don't throw the grass, moss etc. to the back - so you are continually emptying it. Eventually I gave up using it and allowed the machine to just dump everything onto the lawn, and then went round afterwards with a lawnmower to collect it up.Read full review

Excellent, lightweight, easy to use scarifier. The scarifying prongs are sturdy and the adjustable height make it easy to use on different depth of grass/moss. Only minus point is the size of the collecting box - it fills in just one small run - but there is a very simple solution: scarify the grass WITHOUT the collecting box and then DO NOT rake (far too much hard work) but use your lawn mover on a high cut setting to gather up all the debris. All done in a very short time without much physical exertion!

I've scarified two lawns, and my brother-in-law three, and the verdict is that it's a good bit of kit. As others have commented, when the lawn needs much attention then the grass collector would be a hindrance - scarify then mow to both collect the debris and cut the raised longer grass. On my first lawn I forgot to reset the height and it still fetched out many loads of debris. I'm not sure if I want to go below setting 1 (of 3) (maybe a test patch). Very easy to use, and where it has more work to do it actually pulls you along. The aerator, which was what mine was shipped with and needed swapping over (not a problem) looks terrifying - I'm wondering whether it would actually rotavate a decent garden soil.

The scarifier is amazing, really took all the dead grass out. Had a go with the other attachment to put holes/groves in the lawn. Didn't really work it was so fierce it was plowing up the lawn even on the highest setting.

They have made some improvements since I bought my last Einhell scarifier. The removeable cable is a useful modification.
