I bought this to learn on. I'm a nebe:) wanted a travel guitar as most of my free time is spent behind the wheel. Mine arrived perfectly set up with superb light strings and the action is perfect. I expected to need to set it up..but I took it to my father..who has played for over 50 years (including professional playing) and even he is impressed! This little Hofner is perfect for me..I have a tiny amp that I plug into my vehicles CD player aux in socket. Since getting my Shorty I've learned more in two weeks than I learned in a year with my acoustic. (I did lose interest in that TBH it was too big to carry around) The Hofner Shorty comes with a nice bag...(not a big clumsy hard case .)..which to me is a bonus. The padded bag comes with straps and a carry handle. Also a very nice zipper pouch on the side. I put my tuner and chord papers in there. Overall I'm extremely happy I decided to buy this! I would definitely recommend this if you're after a small full scale travel guitar. It is nicely built with good hardware comes ready to play and with a nice carry bag. To close...I love mine! The fit and overall quality is excellent! The price is amazing! I'd say if you need or fancy a small travel guitar just buy it! For the price it's even worth a gamble...:) Read full review

Great little guitar. Well put together and feels like a more expensive instrument. Sounds amazing for such a small thing.

Great guitar for travelling. Works nicely plugged into Garage Band on the iPhone. It's a bit neck-heavy if you wear a strap, but fine on your knee. Not looking forward to changing the strings, though - looks like you have to take the bridge off...

I dont normally write reviews but feel i have to defend the poor little hofner shorty in this instance. I use mine regularly, it is a great practice guitar, sounds good, plays well and does actually feel like a proper guitar, especially the neck. The humbucker pickup is pretty hot and will therefore get a valve amp singing nicely. Mine was perfectly set up out of the box. The only thing i changed was the strings, for my preferred rotosound yellows, and altered the intonation accordingly. Yes it is unbalanced and does feel awkward at first, a good solution i have found is to use a wide (2.5"+) grippy (leather) strap, which helps a great deal. you soon get used to the lack of body on it. 24 frets is a bonus too. Dont let 1 bad review put you off, check out the reviews on amazon too.

Don't bother you will hate the un balanced heavy neck and the total ugly ness of the guitar , not even made I Germany they are now made in China and best used as fire wood , don't believe me ? Buy one and be disappointed
