This album, upon release, was not issued in huge numbers, and the cover ensured it was pretty much out of bounds to the general public pre-internet, and I was so curious, I snapped up a bootleg version in the early 90's, and never put it on again......Imagine an entire album that sounds like "Revolution 9" from the "White Album".....only worse. Utterly self-indulgent rubbish masquerading as some sort of avante-garde statement. I was a keen collector, so actually parted with more money when the officially sanctioned version came out a few years later, and if you have to have every Lennon album, my advice would be to ensure you don't end up with one of the countless bootleg versions that got pressed in the absence of the genuine article. The official release was a far classier production, and came with an individually numbered card that could be inserted neatly in front of the naked cover, making it far more visually appealing, along with one of his infamous lithographs produced at the time, and with a clear case through which the original vinyl images could be viewed behind the disc. It also featured the inclusion of a Bonus Track.....Yoko's "Remember Love" which is a tender a beautiful piece, so if you must buy this CD make sure you dont end up with the two-track fake.Read full review
