Cork sanding blocks are one of those cheap and simple hand tools that can make any job a whole lot quicker and easier. They have just enough 'give' to be comfortable to use and to follow the surface without gouging or digging-in, but they are much tougher and far more productive than those spongy plastic things. In practice they are often more effective for small to middling sized work than dragging out a power tool. If you've not used them before you'll be surprised how handy they are, and these Silverline ones seem to be a pretty good example.

The cork crumbles easily, older blocks that I use have a tighter structure which allows cutting to make it easy to modify block to suit work moulding being sanded. π·

Every tool box should have one. Previously I used to wrap a handy off cut of wood with sandpaper, but this is much better, This one is good quality, good value and good to hold, very pleased.

Good cork block for sanding paper. Seems water resistant and does a job. Only downside so far is corners and edges seem easy to break off . Cheap enough though.
