Good to be back with the original gel battery
After a poor experience with a Westco gel battery, I decided to return to the Panasonic gel battery for my 1990 Mazda Eunos Roadster MX-5 Mk 1. So far (7 weeks after purchase) it has worked out OK, and I've been pleased with my purchase. The fit inside the battery box was good and the clamp fitted OK, and tightened up well on the new battery. Once everything was connected, my car started immediately. I only use the car at weekends - and less in winter - and although I disconnect the battery between runs, subsequent starts have been slightly less enthusiastic. However I've still managed to get the car to start on either the first or second turn of the ignition, which is great. I did a longer run than normal (approx 120 miles) the other week, and the car didn't miss a beat. So far, so ... The battery arrived quicker than I expected, and came with a useful information leaflet about gel batteries and how to get the best out of them. So five stars to MX-5 Parts. All in all, so far the battery has been good and MX-5 Parts were a great seller.

Exact replacement for the original 17 year old battery.
Exact replacement battery for my MX5 which had lasted 17 years. These are amazing batteries. Just gave it a charge for one day and put it in the car. Same size as the original. Very happy. You can get cheaper batteries but not such good value. Fully sealed gel type.

This is one of very few batteries that will fit the Mazda Mx5. It happens to be a gel battery which requires a special charger to ensure that the life of the battery is not compromised if an initial or refreshing charge is required. I only had a standard charger, so had to buy a specific charger for this battery. With the higher cost of this battery compared to regular lead acid batteries and the need to buy a charger for it, made this a more expensive exercise than it should have been! Unfortunately there are few options when the need to replace a Mazda Mx5 battery occurs. Having said that the battery performs well.This is one of very few batteries that will fit the Mazda Mx5. It happens to be a gel battery which requires a special charger to ensure that the life of the battery is not compromised if an initial or refreshing charge is required.
