How did I manage so long without one? Have used on two long trips since purchasing and it is excellent, first class performance...my new friend. Having driven in areas never visited before I have been impressed with the accuracy generally. I purchased this manufacturer refurbished with 1 year full warranty, and all I can say is that it is a new unit. With huge savings on RRP and even some used models seen when browsing I do recommend this. Set up and update was so simple. Lifetime Maps, Lifetime Speed Cameras (even sneaky hand held cameras) School Vicinity Warnings etc all operate as they should. If you are looking for a feature filled, full UK & Europe maps then get one while you still can, or pay considerable more for a current model...some of which do not offer the features found on the Garmin Nuvi 2599LMT-D. Should you not wish to affix it to the windscreen then parts retailers will sell you an unobtrusive dashboard self adhesive disc for a couple of pounds, or a Garmin holder that clips into your ventilator... a great idea but not for all cars, especially if vents are at a specific angle. This is a good purchase without doubt. Update: over 2 years on and a few map updates later I can only say this has been a superb purchase. I would not be without it.Read full review

Lifetime updates for Euro wide maps with some speed camera though details are not that up-to-date even with latest updates. I've tried it in more than one country on holiday. Bigish screen make for easy viewing. Works best with original charger needed for auto-traffic awareness when not using a smart phone link and the original screen mount as the sides are rather rounded. So make sure you get those items included by your seller. Mine wern't so I had to buy spares - expensive and a mission! Software generally ok but I've seen some major mis-routing for just a motorway service station stop and stutters in giving out directions every so often. Logging of where you went is an example of missing data and software bugs. All in all I'll stick with this sat nav that I bought specifically for when I drive cars that are not my own for work. I'd say my Nissan built-in sat nav is more reliable and dependable despite its 6 year old maps. (except for speed cam's)Read full review

Simple to operate, clear and accurate directions. Lifetime map updates of whole of Europe a real plus - POI's most comprehensive. Make sure you get one with original 12V charging lead as this has live traffic update receiver built in. Bluetooth to phone means hands free operation, so no risk of fine and/or points on licence.

Brilliant bit of kit tells you traffic ahead road closures alternative routes to save time on your chosen route. The only thing I can say sometimes the shortest route it picks is not always accurate. But still gets u there one the whole a fantastic satnav.
