I bought this system because of the reputation Kef has for quality and I already have the 2005 model. I like this because the speakers are smaller but still have a good sound The kef system is better than most of similar priced systems
It is such amazing piece of equipment and with a great sound. I love it thanks I was supprise to hear such a great sound. The subwoofer gives a great base line. I think I did not go wrong in buying it thanks
Superb sounding speakers solidly built in cast alloy housings with 100 watt rms power Max.The sub box containing 2 speakers is a vast improvement over the earlier model with more bass the moment you turn it on.This is the second set of this type I have paid for so it goes to say I love them. the sound the build the looks the terminals the stands and wallmounting bracket all the best. The small stand supplied removes and fixes to the rear of the speakers and fixes them onto walls with two screws using key slots. Perfect for small or large rooms but my best results were in rooms over 12" square. You need a dolby digital amp to power them and a single phono lead to run the bass signal from amp to sub box which has its own amp 200 watts with x over gain and phase controls plus a fixed gain boot switch 0 3 or 6Db.The said sub auto senses signals so will switch itself on and of from standby when you fire up your amp. Buy this item with 100% confidence sounds are huge speakers are small and prices are falling 580 pounds is a good price as of 22/11/09 and after some looking found them to range from this upto 750 pounds.Hope this helps so buy one..Read full review
*N.B. I am reviewing a set of 5x Eggs, without the associated KEF Sub. Sub used for this review is a Velodyne CHT-12Q* Fresh out of the box and it is clear that some work is needed to get these Eggs to tonally blend in to the system better. Sound, at first, is very open and clear, but lacking in dynamic scale and drive and the centre channel is a bit too crisp/forward (hard edge to the sound). With a bit of tweaking of crossover levels, a fresh Audyssey calibration, and a slight nudging of the EQ settings for the centre channel, things are much better. The sense of openess is still there and there is a good level detail and clarity. On the downside, it does not sound as 'full' a sound or as weighty as the previous speakers I had, but they were floorstanding Castle Harlechs, so, in many ways, to be expected. They are neat and good looking. They look pretty well built. And for the kind of money these cost these days, I would say they are pretty good value. I cannot vouch for a full system with the dedicated KEF Sub, but the Eggs are a nice clean and open sounding satelite system.Read full review
