Being variable is a great advantage, as like most homes, I have gizmos requiring a mains feed as an alternative to battery. Some adaptors are preset to a certain voltage, which if required for a specific purpose is fine, but one could end up with a drawer full of adaptors all preset for one item only. I cannot recommend this unit highly enough; it has been a Godsend to me in being able to eliminate a heap of single use adaptors.

I bought this as I had a similar one that I had for a few years previously which lasted until the wires split, this one has lasted less than 24 hours, it got very warm then just stopped working, maybe just one from a faulty batch but anyhow, it's dead

Firstly, remember this is an unregulated power supply. It works fine when used as intended. The instructions are a little vague, but weren't required. Good range of voltage ranges and connector options, along with polarity reversal, where needed.

This adaptor is easy to use with enough adapters and settings for the majority of radio's, cassette players etc that can be run on battery s or through the mains via an adaptor As with any multipurpose adapter you must make sure that the polarity is correct for the electrical item that you are useing it with. I bought this mains adapter to use with a Collegiate record player that I had bought for our daughter. It needed a mains adapter and the replacement from collegiate was £40, this was more than I had played for the record player on eBay. It only took a moment to adjust the adaptor to work with the record player and put the correct adapter on the mains lead. The mains lead is nice and long enough for most needs. The plug doesn't get hot and I have used electrical items before manufactured by LLOYTRON. If you are now sure what you are doing, as with anything electrical ask for advice first.Read full review
