I'm surprised this works so well. I bought it for temporary use while my regular pepper mill was elsewhere. I knew it had a plastic grinder instead of metal and didn't expect much. But it makes very fine and excellent ground pepper. I love it and will replace it with another if and when it wears out.

Not easy to grind due to small diameter and torque ratio - requires excessive strength. Stainless w/o a grip also makes it difficult to twist and grind. I'm OK with some effort, but wouldn't recommend for a senior or someone with a hand or wrist disability. Worse part - the bottom is thin gauge SS and unfinished or braked to a smooth/dull edge - it is relatively sharp and will scratch any surface that has a Mohs scale of hardness less than SS. Time will tell if the ceramic grind mechanism is of good quality. I ended up using the grinder for other, not so frequently used seeds and it's in the cabinet.

The illustration on the 'white box' packaging includes a comically small DOLL HAND falsely attempting to make the item appear larger. The provided measurements are exaggerated by almost a cm in height. This is half the size of units found at local big-box stores. It's an inferior quality that will break within a week's use.

Didn't look like much when I opened up the box and seen these little things, they appeared cheap and flimsy and I have ordered at least 5 other types that all looked tougher. I filled them with (1) Himalayan salt and (2) smoked jalapeno and with a little adjustment these can grind quite fine, the smoked peppers grind well and they will not even come out of some of the others at all. In all, they are inexpensive but well worth the money.
