I bought two of these to have a safe and quiet RAID 1 storage for my home PC. They do not produce any annoying sounds and generally perform well. WD disks are always reliable and these specifically are also a very good for storing multimedia because they do not require as much power as "standard" hard disks. They do not produce heat even though they run at 7200RPM but I'd never consider using them as system drives. Their reading speed isn't that impresssive but their capacity makes them an excellent choice for storing my multimedia files. Only downside I've noticed is a considerable lag when jumping through a full HD mkv video file (10GB+) but that may be caused by them being currentlty connected to an older SATA2 port instead of it's native SATA3.
The hard drive has slow writes and fast reads. It's reliable and should last for many years. Unfortunately it is not as quiet as expected, by default there is head parking every 8 seconds and it is a lot of trouble to turn this off, requiring Linux software or a Windows DOS application. I found the drive randomly turning on and going to sleep a lot.

2TB is an obvious storage upgrade for any home or office. this drive is massive and doesn't overheat like most drives out there when put in tight slots due to its silent 5400rpm. it can write up to 100MBps onto my system build at least and the only down side i can think of is the 2 seconds it takes to start up, since it is eco friendly it occasionally stops spinning when not in use. 2tb at this price is a bargain by anyones standards, i would buy another to complete a raid array.
I have used Western Digital for many years now and have had excellent service from them. I have not had chance to fit this drive yet but I have four others and have been very pleased with the performance on my other PC's. It is not the cheapest 2TB drive, but as I have said if you want the best you have to pay. I would definately recommend, and already have done so, to my friends.
