This lens with the highly regarded Leica name does not disappoint. Image quality right across the frame at all focal lengths and commonly used apertures is outstanding and far superior to the kit version which admittedly costs a lot less. Build quality is first class and operation of the zoom and manual focus rings is smooth with just the right amount of resistance. Selection of manual focus and/or image stabilization is simplified by a couple of switches on the lens body. The locking lens hood is a nice touch. The lens is weatherproofed and the ideal companion to weatherproofed bodies such as the Panasonic Lumix GX8 and the Olympus OM-D E-M1. As a landscape photographer the zoom range of 12-60mm (24-120mm in 35mm terms) is ideal giving ~70% more reach than, say, the Lumix 12-35mm f2.8 or the Olympus 12-40mm f2.8 thus minimizing lens changes. Although the maximum aperture changes from f2.8 at 12mm to f4 at 60mm this is not an issue for me as I would normally use f5.6/f8 anyway, unless photographing the Northern Lights where the 24mm, f2.8 setting is ideal. When I used full frame Canon my go to lens on which I took 99% of the shots was the 24-105mm - the Leica replicates this range and adds a little at the long end.Read full review

This is a very good lens. It gives a bit longer zoom range compared to standard zooms, and the image quality is excellent at all focal lengths. I already have the Olympus 12-40mm f2.8 pro, and you have to look really close to notice any difference in picture quality. One of them has to go and I think it will be the Olympus pro. This lens has good enough image quality, is lighter and has a longer zoom. It is also weather and dust resistant like the pro lens.

This is a handy standard lens for m43, especially for Panasonic body. It focuses very fast and creates very sharp images. It can get close up, and I do not need to carry macro lense anymore. Its zoom range is handy 24-120 mm equivalent, thus it is very versatile. With the excellent price offered on eBay, this is the must-have lens! Highly recommended!!

I have a good range of lenses for my MFT kit using a GX8 and GX80, including the f.95 35mm Nocton. If I’m going away and want to travel light, it’s always the GX80 and the 12-60mm on the camera. Great lens and useful zoom length when on my travels.

Nice handling lens, everything operates smoothly and positively. A pleasure to use. It does perform slightly better than the cheaper LUMIX 12-60 but it’s marginal and at a penalty on weight and size. Quite expensive when bought as a standalone product and you might want to consider if you need more reach.
