Because we have a rather hairy dog and some of our carpets are mixed materials, it has always been hard work cleaning our carpets, I already had the mini Dyson dog hair tool which worked well on the stairs with our other vacuums, but this vacuum has a lower wattage which I was concerned about, but this was unjustified on my part, what it lags in raw power it more than makes up for in outright performance. Cleaning the large living room carpet only took 10 minutes and the carpet looks cleaner than it had for a long time, also the main brush picks up dog hairs very well, it would have been nice to have had a larger bin though, finally, the first time using this vacuum felt odd due to the ball, but once you get the feel for it, the ball really works well.
I received a free copy of Which through the post and there was a review of vacuum cleaners and this Dyson DC35 came out on top. I have a deep red carpet which was the biggest mistake of my life as my Hoover just wouldn't do a good job of cleaning it and I had been looking for a while for a decent vacuum,an upright but the price of a new one was just too much.So I E Bayed Dyson DC 35 and began trawling through all the listings. And there were a lot... I found one for a starting price of £130+£20 courier. They all seemed to finish at around £120 and I checked the price of a new one and with a trade in with your old vacuum the price was £239 which was just too much. The one I found was complete with a 3 piece allergy set and a mini beater which alone retails for over £35. So I put a bid in of £150 which I was sure would secure me winning. Then I put another bid in for £152.50 as an afterthought and watched the final countdown and 3 seconds before the end someone put another bid in of £150. So I won it !! I was very happy but very aware that I had spent a lot of money and I am not exactly flush. When it arrived 2 days later extremely well packed I sat and read the booklet cover to cover before I even plugged it in and the big moment arrived and I switched it on. OMG !! My beautiful blood red carpet came to life for the first time since it was laid 4 years ago. It looked brand new again.(And it has a very long cable) The suction is just incredible. The hose is easily detatched and the nozzle fits beautifully with a satisfying click. It is an incredibly efficient Dyson and thoroughly deserves its 10 out of 10 which it got in the Which comparison review.The machine was 3 years old and there wasn't a mark on it. It had been very well looked after and I wrote and asked the seller if the guarantee could be put over to me and it could. I rang Dyson and it was very easy to switch.So I have 2 years left which I probably won't need as I can't see it failing on me. This Dyson is the best. You won't regret buying it.I was going to ditch my carpet for a much easier brown one which didn't show every bit of dust,hair and flick. I took a bit of a risk and it paid off. My carpet lives again and I shall leave ny Dyson to my son in my will. Brilliant buy and I couldn't be happier. The end.Read full review
Having had various cleaners about the house over the years, the DC25 Animal is a very good cleaner for getting pet hairs up, I have 2 dogs and when they shed they shed a lot, however the DC 25 copes well and has a quite large capacity cylinder so can go several days without emptying. Good suction and easy to handle with the ball steering.

So single guy here. Amazed at how much dirt it took off a recently hoovered carpet! Glides around so easily that it is a delight to use. The extension function works well but it does tend to recoil the machine to the extension so a bit of a struggle there. Maybe will learn how to use it better. However, great for doing the stairs, etc. Easy to switch off the rotating carpet cleaner for a hard wood floor, so very happy to have such easy and reachable control over the suction head unit. Very happy with it. Great machine for a great price (refurbished). Delivery was very easy through a nearby Argos. A+++
