Bought to replace a trailer plug where the inner had come loose so wouldn't connect reliably. Excellent quality product; easy to wire with decent connectors and clear pin numbers, very solid construction and good cable clamp inside. Screws supplied separately which is actually a nice touch; no need to undo them all before you start! I chose the metal bodied version over cheaper plastic ones as I want this to last; I feel that this was a good choice.

I had a plastic plug on my trailer. There had been a few instances where it had fallen out the socket and been dragged along by thr car. So I thought Id buy a metal one. This product is almost useless. Yes it was easy to disassemble/assemble. The wire clamp appeared adequate and it pluged in ok. However; it is made of a thin, feeble alloy. I unplugged from the car and rested it on the tow hitch. It fell off and hit the ground and it bent the lug on the outer edge. I plugged it back in to straighten the bend and it fractured. Cheap for a reason. Ive now gone back to a plastic plug.

I bought this metal plug thinking it would be more robust than some of the plastic ones. However it proved useless. The design of the internal cable grip meant that it didn’t offer any restraint to the cable at all, i.e. completely failed to grip it. After fiddling around with extra packing so that the cable was held, then assembling the two plug halves, the shelf-tapping screws which are supposed to hold them together just stripped through the cheap alloy plug body. I don’t consider this was me over-tightening them. So the short-term has me wrapping the whole thing in duct tape. I’ve since replaced the plug with another brand (plastic)

The metal is flimsy and the screw fixings to retain the cable within the plug are too light, do not engage with the metal of the case very well and the sharp end of these screws project through the casing. Though the projecting tip of the screws do not project above the surface of the casing, they are very close to the surface and make you cautious when gripping the plug. There is a mixture of pozi drive and slotted screws within the plug assembly. On the positive side, the two cast projections on the plug make it easier to insert and remove the plug from the socket on your car. The plug does its job, is metal so should be more robust than the plastic versions, was a good price and only time shall tell if it performs. 3 out of 5 stars seems a fair rating to me.

I prefer the metal plugs for my trailer board. I tow a trailer at least once a week and I bought this plug to replace a wobbly plastic one that didn`t like being pushed into the socket anymore! This plug was inexpensive, arrived promptly and contained the cable screws inside. Once wired it works fine .
