My last amp developed floor noise and at a 200 watts output was too loud for my flat as in on number 3 it was loud so I saw this denon and its perfect, good volume control and contrary to people's belief you don't need massive distorted volume and bass ,I grew out of that at 23 years old ,the bass &treble ate good and responsive and for classical music its got a lovely tone ,so if you want clean sounding amplifier this is the one for you its output is more than enough and I've never had it more than a quarter of volume. Go get one I love it ..

Bought this for a neighbour who has asked me to help set up an affordable strereo. Presently testing it in my system in place of an Exposure 21/18S combination. The Denon is excellent value second hand, it has now warmed up and to my ears sounds best with the tone controls defeated. It seems to have a fairly neutral tonal balance, perhaps slightly favouring lower midrange or maybe that's the KEF 104/2s it's playing through? It certainly conveys music across the whole spectrum, when first switched on it sounded a little 'spitty' on cymbals and a little grainy overall, after a few hours listening it sounds smoother now - maybe it has warmed up or maybe I've adjusted to it. It has strong dynamics that help bring the music alive though at times loud busy passages can sound a little congested and 'shouty'. It creates a reasonably good sound stage too. All in all a remarkable amp for below £100 second hand with the basic functions that would satisfy many buyers who are happy to be without an internal DAC. I think my neighbour will be pleased with it! Read full review

I needed a good integrated amplifier to replace a very expensive but no longer affordable one damaged by a nearby lightning strike. I expected this modestly priced Dennon to offer acceptable performance and hoped I would be able to get used to any shotcomings. However, when I installed and switched it on, I was amazed to find it was as least as good as the "high end" component I was replacing. It reproduced orchestral sound with no discernable distortion and solo instruments sounded as though they were right in the room. I find that I hear and enjoy the music and not the component that reproduces it. This Dennon is ideal for domestic use and has adequate power for a natural level of playback which unfolds effortlessly the dynamics of a full orchestra from quietest to loudest volume.

It's a brilliant little unit, doesn't make any floor noise and the finish of the switch gear is very high end. It feels solid and well built, looks the part, and has no issue powering my Yamaha NS-F51 speakers.
